 Charles (Chuck) Thompson
Executive Vice President, Strategic Operations
Mr. Charles (Chuck) Thompson serves as executive vice president, strategic operations for the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau (CAB). Thompson leads all of the CAB media sales, research, multicultural, communications and creative teams. His long and distinguished media planning career makes him eminently qualified to present TV’s many emerging options credibly to advertisers and their agencies. Additionally, Thompson has operational oversight for the organization – with an agenda to modernize the CAB and position it at the forefront of the evolving television landscape. Thompson joined the advocacy group in 2004.

Before joining the CAB, he most recently served as senior vice president, client services director for Universal McCann, where he was responsible for the successful oversight of media strategy for the agency’s New York office. This included the direction of accounts such as Sony Electronics, Major League Baseball, Marriott International, Unilever, Nabisco USA and Lucent Technologies. Most notably, Thompson led the media team that successfully transitioned Lowe’s Home Improvement Centers’ $250 million account from 100% spot advertiser to major national advertiser. 

Thompson has more than two decades of experience in media planning at some of the industry’s most respected agencies. As an associate media director for both Deutsch, Inc. and Hal Riney & Partners he managed the Ikea, Pontiac, Oxford Health Plans, Fuji Photo and Lehman Brothers accounts. He also served as assistant media director for Ammirati & Puris overseeing a roster of brands such as BMW, UPS, Four Seasons Hotels, Fidelity Investments and Oppenheimer Management Corporation. Thompson began his career with Wells, Rich & Greene holding positions of increasing responsibility, culminating with his appointment as vice president, media group head working on behalf of Hertz, Phillip Morris USA, Sunoco, Century 21 and Chase Manhattan Bank. 

Thompson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Washington & Jefferson College in Pennsylvania. Chuck, his wife and two children make their home in Mahopac, New York.
