Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau Announces Lineup For Sales Management Conference
General Motors' Betsy Lazar to Provide Keynote Address, Steve Burke, Billy Campbell, Tom Rutledge to form President's Panel
The Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau (CAB) today announced the lineup for its upcoming Cable Sales Management Conference to be held April 30- May 2 in Atlanta. The conference -- themed ‘Tomorrow Today’ will bring together some of the most influential members of the television and media industry.
Ms. Betsy Lazar, executive director of advertising & marketing operations for General Motors will provide the keynote address kicking off the conference’s first day.
This year’s president’s panel will be moderated by Court TV’s Catherine Crier and will include several of the industry’s most prominent figures including Mr. Steve Burke, chief operating officer of Comcast Corporation. Mr. Burke, who was recently named by Fortune Magazine as one of 12 executives poised to become the next great CEO joins Mr. Tom Rutledge, chief operating officer of Cablevision and Mr. Billy Campbell, president of Discovery Networks for a wide-ranging discussion on the opportunities, pressures and challenges the television medium faces today and in the future.
“We believe this year’s show agenda is without question one of our strongest ever,” said CAB president and CEO Sean Cunningham. “The senior level thinking secured on-stage for this event is the best example of the CAB’s commitment to being at the forefront of our business.”
Seth Godin, author of best selling books Permission Marketing and All Marketers are Liars will give a talk entitled “Invisible or Remarkable” focusing on adapting to the current marketing world – a world where people have a more choice then ever before. Mr. Godin’s books have been Amazon.com and New York Times bestsellers. He has also been named the “Ultimate Entrepreneur for the Information Age” by Business Week magazine. In addition, Terry Jones, the founder and former president of Travelocity.com will share his experiences on how he helped build the consumer travel site into a global brand that has thrived in a competitive interactive marketplace.
Tuesday’s advanced advertising technology panel will discuss the continuing impact on-demand television is having on the industry. Moderated by Cableworld’s Paul Maxwell, Mr. Barry Frey senior vice president, platform sales for Cablevision, Mr. Warren Schlichting, vice president, new business strategies for Comcast Corporation, Mr. Chris Pizzuro, vice president media sales and marketing for Turner Entertainment and Mr. David Porter, director new media advertising development for Cox Media will share their insights and best practices in this area.
The three day event will bring together more than 800 cable ad sales executives from across the country. The conference also serves as a backdrop for the 24th annual CAB Sales Awards hosted by CNN Headline News’ Robin Meade recognizing the best and brightest in local cable ad sales.
